Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., CEVA is a leading licensor of silicon intellectual property (SIP) platform solutions and DSP cores for mobile handset, consumer electronics and storage applications. CEVA's IP portfolio includes comprehensive solutions for multimedia, audio, voice over packet (VoP), Bluetooth and Serial ATA (SATA), and a wide range of programmable DSP cores and subsystems with different price/performance metrics serving multiple markets. In 2007, CEVA's IP was shipped in over 225 million devices. CEVA was
created through the merger of the DSP licensing division of DSP Group
and Parthus Technologies.
Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) are the heart of the digital revolution. They are unique microprocessors that are both software-programmable and capable of massive real-time processing. DSP technology is fundamental to the semiconductor industry's two most important markets - wireless and digital multimedia. Little wonder that DSPs represent the fastest growing segment of the semiconductor market.
Within the semiconductor industry, CEVA is known as an Intellectual Property (IP) company. We focus on the design and development of cores and applications that power wireless and digital multimedia system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. We do not manufacture the chips ourselves. Instead, we license our technology to leading technology companies who either manufacture chips in-house, or obtain them from foundries. In addition, CEVA typically earns a royalty on each unit our licensees ship. Semiconductor IP has rapidly emerged to become a multi-million dollar industry. Semiconductor and electronics companies increasingly use open-licensable, industry-standard IP to increase design productivity and reduce their cost of development. For full FAQs on CEVA click here.
